The weekly column is back!

This is how I started my previous column, over a month ago already. Usually I had time enough during the weekend to at least write something about Windows CE and Mobile Device Development. The last few weeks have been different. It has been impossible to write something for DotNETForDevices, because work is piling up. Since I started the webcast series on developing a Windows Mobile Line-Of-Business application back in January it has been a continuous fight against deadlines. Having a presentation ready each week, accompanied by sample code and a how-to manual that easily reaches 30 pages is a serious attack on my spare time. It is simply a matter of priorities, but weekends are filled completely preparing for an upcoming webcast and trying to share as much knowledge as possible with the community. That simply means that there was no time to also write columns, let alone regularly update my blog. So DotNETForDevices has been quiet for a few weeks already. Unfortunately this will continue to be the case until the webcast series is over by the end of March. I am already starting to get mixed feelings about that. On one hand it will be a relief, not struggling with deadlines after March 29 for a while. Well, it is a relief not to struggle with deadlines anymore. At the same time, those mixed feelings are here as well. I had absolutely nothing to do this entire weekend. Oh, just to clarify this, I loved each and every minute of it. Reading and watching TV, not even being close to a computer. What a way to spend a weekend! However, it definitely was a lot of fun to present a webcast for 13 weeks in a row. It was especially nice to see people coming back to the series week after week. The follow-up is taking some more time, since I also promised to provide Visual Basic.NET sample code. Luckily, there is not really a deadline for that sample code, so I can keep my eyes open again and write about other things that are going on in the Windows Mobile / Windows Embedded space as well. So please keep on returning to DotNETForDevices. From now on you will hopefully get a lot of information on this site again. Not only technical information, but most likely I will share preparations for MEDC Las Vegas and MEDC Europe as well. Those are the next challenges coming up. Carefully I am also starting to think about another webcast series, maybe around the September – October time frame. Of course I can think all I want, but I also need to convince the MSDN Webcast team and the Windows Mobile team to have me back. Keep on checking back to DotNETForDevices and you will find out if this is going to happen.
