What is this?

Column Details

Once again it is a lot of traveling

Like each year, quite a few developer conferences, both in Europe and in the USA are scheduled between April and June. It all started this week already with the MVP Summit, held in the Seattle / Redmond area. Unfortunately I won’t be able to really share information with you about this summit, since most of its content are under NDA. However, this is the first of a whole line up of conferences in the upcoming months that require a lot of traveling. I am absolutely not complaining about traveling, since this is something I enjoy most of the times. With most conferences starting on Monday, it means getting to the conference location in the weekend, traveling back the next weekend. Such a schedule hardly leaves time for writing articles and columns, one of the things DotNETForDevices will suffer immediately from. Especially when I speak at conferences, all traveling time is used for the final run through of demo’s and rehearsals. It looks like May and June will be extremely busy with MEDC, Tech-Ed and MEDC Europe coming up. Before that time I hopefully have a Windows CE 6.0 training to teach, at least one more webcast to present and probably a few articles to write for MSDN. Listing all these activities is of course a prelude to some sort of lame excuse. If the weekly column of DotNETForDevices is missing a few times, it probably means there was not enough time to write it. Even though it is nice to write a column about developing for devices using Windows Embedded operating systems, it is much more important to deliver high quality presentations during conferences and webcasts and useful articles for MSDN. If you want to know more about the amount of work it takes to organize a conference like MEDC, make sure to regularly check Mike Hall’s blog, since he gives us some great behind the scenes views around MEDC. When we are a little closer to MEDC and Tech-Ed, I will try to give some background information about creating presentations for these conferences on my blog. This weekend is filled with flying. Next week is filled with preparations for a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 training. I don’t have a clue if there is enough time to come up with another column next week. I guess there is only one way to find out. Just revisit DotNETForDevices at least once a week.
